Scholarships & Awards

Lehigh Valley Community Foundation

Advancing Higher Education

The Lehigh Valley Community Foundation manages a number of scholarship funds. These funds have been established by donors with a particular interest in supporting students from a specific high school, students attending a specific college or university, or students with certain academic skills or goals.

Lehigh Valley Community Foundation Scholarship Opportunities

There are two types of scholarship funds: (1) those that are administered through schools and other charitable organizations (“school-coordinated” and “community-coordinated”), and (2) those that are administered through applications accepted by LVCF (“LVCF-coordinated”).

LVCF-coordinated scholarships like the Olexa Weber Scholarships are reviewed by the LVCF Scholarship Committee.  The committee is comprised of professionals with expertise in reviewing & evaluating admission applications.

Lehigh Valley Community Foundation Awards

Award Funds

Grants from award funds recognize individuals for an outstanding achievement. The Foundation has established policies and procedures for scholarships and awards pursuant to the awarding of grants from funds where donor advisors have advisory privileges or participate in the selection of grant or award recipients. The Lehigh Valley Community Foundation has three funds from which education-related awards are made:

William B. & Elizabeth Behr Agocs Geophysical Research Fund

This fund provides an annual grant to the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary for awards for graduate research and education in the field of geophysics.

The Bethlehem Educational Scholastic Trust (B.E.S.T.) Fund

The B.E.S.T. Fund provides annual awards to recognize excellence in teaching in the Bethlehem Area School District (BASD). Award recipients are chosen by a committee of educators, and the Foundation for the Bethlehem Area School District and awards are presented at the School District’s Opening Convocation. For information on how to nominate a teacher for B.E.S.T. or to see past recipients, please visit our BEST Past Winners webpage.

The Frances Sadler Award for Nursing
